Connect an iPhone to Windows

Prepare Apple Devices, unlock the phone and recognize the difference between trust and a missing codec.

Prepare the cable and Apple service

Use a data-capable cable and a direct USB port. On Windows, install Apple's Apple Devices application from its official source. Its Apple Mobile Device Service provides the connection used by DuckCarry. A cable that charges is not necessarily a data cable; try another port or cable if no phone appears.

Unlock and answer Trust

Unlock the iPhone, keep it connected and answer Trust This Computer on the phone if asked. Enter the phone passcode there, never in DuckCarry or the website. A Don't Trust response is shown separately and remains until disconnect. Reconnect if you want to try again. Initial pairing and locked-phone behavior still need broader physical acceptance.

Scan before copying

Wait for the ready device, then scan. DuckCarry shows new media and asks for a destination; scanning is not a copy or a deletion. Items stored only in iCloud may need to be downloaded to the phone first. Keep the phone available and the cable stable; interrupted copying resumes for the same device and saved plan after reconnection.

Driver and codec are different

Driver needed means the connection service may be missing. A HEIC/HEVC conversion warning concerns the installed image/video codecs instead. Microsoft's HEIF Image Extensions and HEVC Video Extensions may be needed for conversion; requirements and availability depend on the machine. If a decoder is unavailable, DuckCarry keeps the source rather than pretending conversion succeeded.
