Copy, verify, then decide

Choose a destination and backup, read the result and keep phone deletion separate.

Choose two destinations deliberately

Scan the connected source. Choose a main folder and, if wanted, an independent backup drive. A second folder on the same drive is not protection against that drive failing. The space estimate includes selected originals, estimated conversions and required copies; it is checked again before copying. Preview visibility is a separate privacy setting.

Copy and read the result

Start Copy. Rust receives each file into a temporary destination, hashes its bytes, saves without replacing an existing different file and reads the result back for verification. A required backup is copied and checked too. Read skipped items, conversion notes and backup failures in the result; an error is not a successful copy.

Pause, reconnect and resume

Keep the cable stable. If interrupted, reconnect the same device and follow the saved plan. History can prepare an interrupted session; confirm Copy explicitly after a fresh scan. A different phone cannot silently continue that plan. Open representative destination files and keep independent backups. Verification describes the bytes checked then, not every future failure.

Only if you choose to free space

Phone space recovery is optional and separate from Copy. It requires two confirmations, a current device inventory and fresh hashes of the source, exact original copy and any required backup. A Live Photo pair is eligible together, not one half alone. A lossy video derivative cannot authorize deletion. Deletion may be permanent; do not rely on Recently Deleted or a trash folder. Choose Keep on phone if uncertain. Wi-Fi sources never offer phone deletion.
